Mark Hamill will reportedly voice The Joker for Batman: The Killing Joke, the upcoming animated feature film from DC Entertainment. Mark Hamill is a loved for his voicing of the Joker in the Batman Animated Series. I know that a lot of people see him for Star Wars but I definitely cant hear him talk without seeing the Joker.
Hamill will reprise the role of Batman’s arch-nemesis after saying that he had retired the character. As most know, Hamill voiced The Joker through Batman: The Animated Series, the Batman Arkham video games, and other projects. When Warner Bros announced at San Diego Comic Con that they would bring the Joker-centric graphic novel to life, Hamill said that he would come out of retirement to voice the Joker in that film.
For those not in the know, The Killing Joke is considered by many as the ultimate Joker story. Written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland in the late 1980s, the story became famous for offering a possible origin story for the Joker.
The Killing Joke is a loved, disturbing, interesting story that is pretty well known in the comic community and in possibly a favorite among many comic readers for the telling of the Joker’s origins. Black Milk last year made a bomber jacket with scenes from the graphic novel and I definitely bought it. It’s a well known book and I am more then excited to get to see it in animated form.
