We all wrestle with our own personal monsters day in and day out. Artist and writer Christie Shinn brings us face to face with these monsters in her new book ‘Personal Monsters: A Compendium of Monstrosities of Personality’. These fearsome beasts were inspired by the monsters that Shinn had to deal with in her own professional and personal life, which I’m sure many readers have also had their own dealings with. In this book we meet such creatures as the Depressus to the Two-Faced Bitch to that awful Anxiety Monster and more.
While going through these pages and encountering each of these horrors, I found myself nodding as I had my own experiences with many (if not all) of these monsters as well. Among all these personal monsters perhaps the ones that I have seen more than my fair share of these days have been the Inner Critic and the Bullshitter. I’m sure many readers will also find these creatures quite familiar.
We highly suggest getting yourself a copy of Shinn’s ‘Personal Monsters: A Compendium of Monstrosities of Personality’. In fact if you’re going to be heading to San Diego Comic-Con later this week, be sure to stop by HoraTora Studios‘ table to pick up a copy of the book at E-07 or you can order one here.
