First Annual Creek Con Was January 21. This con held at Bear Creek High School in Stockton California. When I arrived parking was easy to find. The Entrance was well marked with a large banner. I got to Meet with Anne and Daniel, the producers of this con soon after I arrived. This event was the wish and dream of Daniel’s, now a reality. This event is all nonprofit staffed by student organizations of Bear Creek High School. All monies go to those student organizations.
Let’s take a look at the event, Starting with the dealer room which was in the school’s gym:
My favorite highlights were the school’s robotics program had a radio control bot that is able to pick up foam balls and shoot it at a basket several feet away.
The school’s cafeteria provided plenty of room to sit and talk, hang out and eat. (img_4161.jpg) The console gaming was also in the Cafeteria.
This was the most impressive console gaming area I have seen in a while they were all large flat panel displays on self-moving stands.
Most events finding food requires walking a few blocks away or getting back in a car, not this event they had a snack bar with a great variety of food and drink. Check out the menu.
If shopping, games, and cosplay were not your thing in the theater they had Avengers 2 and Star Wars a Force Awakens playing.
No panels this first out but they did have a Costume Contest justed by the Cross Country team.
The contest was run a little different than I am used to. They did not do a parade of contestants where they show off poses. they were judged as if it was pre-judging then the winners were announced. I manage to get group pictures of the contestants keep an eye out for my full gallery.
The winners were the best youth.
The adult category had a winner and runner-up.
Thanks to Jedi Moon Cosplay for letting me hang out with her for this event. For a first year one-day event, it looked like everybody had a good time. I look forward to the events continued success.
