Check out this awesome looking Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles inspired desk from the folks at Tom Spina Designs.
A custom built Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles inspired desk.
When we begin any themed furniture project we always start by discussing with each client their hopes or vision for their piece. We’ll discuss the theme, what type of furniture they want and a budget… but we also discuss functionality and this Ninja Turtles inspired desk was no exception. While it may seem like themed furniture is all about the look at the end of the day it is still a piece of furniture and so it needs to be functional. In this case, our client would be adding a sit-stand station, so we needed to ensure he had space for that.
Once we know about the client’s needs for their desk we can come up with a few different ideas which are turned into concept sketches. With the client’s input, we choose a design that fits their needs and budget, and we move on to the building phase.
Lead artist on this project Rich Riley began by creating the frame work for the desk out of wood and construction tubing. He then added a faux stone texture to the the desk to make it look like real concrete. Additional details were added, like faux bricks, valves and spouts. The pipe, tubing, and knobs were given a faux rusty metal treatment to create the underground sewer landscape.
Every inch of the desk is covered in a unique paint treatment, or some sort of homage to the turtles. From the faux radioactive slime to the faux brick, to the turtles and even master Splinter, every angle of this desk is a dynamic piece of art perfect for our Ninja Turtles fan. Be sure to see our other themed furniture and decor and drop us a line if you’d like to talk about making one of a kind art for your home or office!
**No animals were harmed or given superpowers in the making of this desk!**
