I have been going to Sac Con for several years now and have enjoyed the close-knit community that attends as well as all the fun happenings and guests. That said, I was not prepared for what I would find at this new and improved venue!
As soon as I pulled up to the McClellan Convention Center in McClellan Park I was blown away. Sac Comic-Con looked and felt like a full scare convention! Hosted in what used to be the old Surewest Corporate office, the venue is now much larger and allowed for even more activities and guests.
Special guests included Kevin Eastman (Co-Creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!), Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels (Legendary Hip-Hop musician and lyricist for RunDMC), C.J. Graham (Actor/stuntmen to play legendary horror icon slasher “Jason Voorhees” in the Friday the 13th film series) and more! People got to rock out to the sounds of the Phantom Jets in the music room and the panels were well received. I personally had a blast playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! and other old school games in the gaming area!
I was very pleased with the amount of people old and new who showed up to the con. I spoke with many individuals who had never attended a convention before and all were excited and ready to plan for the next. I was also very impressed with the level of costumes in attendance. While Sac Con has always been a hot bed for creativity I felt like the venue drew in more…. and bigger and better cosplays.
Even after the con had ended and the doors had been closed many lingered outside taking photos, talking and enjoying each other’s company! I am excited for the future of this con and can’t wait to do it again on October 25th, 2015
