Even more Marvel news from NYCC. On November 2ndthere will be a 1 hour primetime special showing Marvel’s history from 1939 to the future. The show will be called Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop. The special is going to be hosted by Emily Van Camp, and will be shown during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. timeslot.
The special will present the history of Marvel from its beginnings as Timely Comics, the comics division of publisher Martin Goodman empire of pulp magazines, with heroes like the Human Torch, Sub-Mariner, and in 1941 Captain America, to Atlas Comics in the 1950s and finally Marvel Comics in 1961, the year that saw the launch of The Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the twin titans who largely built the Marvel empire and populated it with square-jawed heroes with relatable “hang-ups” and enduring popularity.
