“Lego Movie” Sequel Date Set

Everything will be awesome again in 2017, when the sequel to “The Lego Movie” hits the screens. The first movie is still bringing in viewers each day, but its immense popularity means the inevitable sequel (which was previously announced before the movie was even a week old) is a top priority.

According to Variety.com, Warner Bros. has confirmed that Jared Stern and Michelle Morgan will be writing the script, and we can expect to see much of the previous cast and crew remain on board. The movie is set to be released on May 26, 2017, so we’ll have to wait a bit, but movies take time, and it’s a necessity to get something quality.

So, what can we expect in “Lego 2: Plastic Boogaloo?” (Presumably not the real name, but if WB wants to use it, it’s all theirs.) The first Lego Movie did wrap up its own plot quite nicely, but it left plenty of room to expand. Sharp-eyed fans might have noticed certain Lego worlds, such as that of Bionicle, flashing by when Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) was providing Emmet (Chris Pratt) with exposition, not to mention the ending.

Warning: Spoilers for the very last scene ahead. Do not read on if you haven’t seen the movie, or if you care in the least about what the movie ends with.

So will the next movie open with Emmet and his fellow Master Builders battling the destructive beings from Duplo? Will they learn to live and work together in harmony, or must the Lego worlds struggle to survive? I can’t say, I’m just guessing, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for one as awesome as the last.
