“Dungeons & Dragons” spent the day holding a “Stream of Annihilation” on Twitch, filled with celebrity dungeon masters, interviews with the creators, and announcements of several new products. Perhaps most importantly was the announcement of two new books: the splatbook “Xanathar’s Guide to Everything” and the adventure book “Tomb of Annihilation.”
Announced on Friday, “Tomb of Annihilation” is the first book in 5th edition to take the players away from the Sword Coast and over to Chult, a far-off jungle island that fans have been clamoring to return to. Why is Chult so beloved? Well, the presence of dinosaurs plays a large part in that. Additionally, “Tomb of Annihilation” promises a “meat grinder mode” for quicker and more permanent character deaths, and the return of the legendary lich Acererak.
Following up on that, the company announced “Xanathar’s Guide to Everything,” a new rulebook featuring new options for players and dungeon masters alike. It’s described as offering “multiple sub-classes for every class, new downtime rules, and new rules for making traps,” hinting that it will use finalized versions of the rules options and class variants that Wizards of the Coast has been letting players playtest through “Unearthed Arcana” on the D&D website.
“Tomb of Annihilation” will be hitting stores September 8th, with “Xanathar’s Guide to Everything” coming out November 21st. There may be more info to come, so check out the “Stream of Annihilation” on Twitch here:
