It looks like White Wolf Publishing is teaming up with Focus Home Interactive a Paris based video game publisher for an upcoming video game set in their World of Darkness universe for the PC and consoles. Known widely for their popular Vampire setting (and their previous game ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines’) this entry will instead spotlight their Werewolf counterpart ‘Werewolf: The Apocalypse’.
For those who aren’t familiar with the game, in W:tA the players take on the role of a shiftshaper warrior known as a Garou who are “opposed to urban civilization and the destruction it brings. The Garou are born to fight the corruption of The Wyrm, a powerful supernatural force leading us towards an inevitable Apocalypse.” This is quite some exciting news for long time fans (such as this writer).
Cédric Lagarrigue, President of Focus Home Interactive;
“We are pleased to partner with White Wolf to bring Werewolf: The Apocalypse to life in a video game for consoles and PC. We are excited to work on the World of Darkness universe, as this is formidable playground to tell the players a great story. We are also happy to partner with Cyanide Studio in this adventure – they are behind the original wish to adapt this universe, and we are faithful in their ability to create a game that will please both fans of World of Darkness and newcomers.”
Tobias Sjögren, CEO of White Wolf;
“The World of Darkness universe has always attracted creatives with a strong passion for telling dark and immersive stories. So to work closely with the great talent at Focus Home and Cyanide exploring the Werewolves of this universe is an absolutely fantastic experience for us at White Wolf and we are more than excited to see this great IP realised in a video game.”
More information will be released during Focus Home Interactive’s event ‘le What’s Next de Focus’ on February 1st and the 2nd in Paris. We don’t know about you but we’re certainly looking forward to finding out more![Source: Paradox Interactive]
