A new Chip Platfrom to help Supercharge Wearables

Imagination Technologies has a new chip that will change the power inside wearables. When Google announced the Android Wear OS the videos looked amazing but at the same time daunting. The tasks the watches in the video were flying through are beyond any wearable out right now. In comes Ingenic Newton, this little chip is about the size of an SD Card and packs an insane amount of features. From Bluetooth 4.0 and Wifi, to a dedicated graphics engine with playback of 720p and 30FPS. It has a 1ghz CPU with support of up to 3Gb of ram. Most cellphones don’t have that much ram. The Newton is very customizable and designed to work with Linux and Android 4.4 (KitKat). With Google talking about late this year for wearables running Android Wear to hit the market this is a platform that many of them could be running on.
