Classic Batman TV Series Finally Gets a Release!

The 1960s live-action Batman TV series will finally gets a release this year! Announced by talk show host Conan O’Brien on Twitter, and has been confirmed by a press release from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The classic show will be released as a complete box set, complete with all three seasons, which originally ran on ABC from 1966 to 1968.

 

The show has long been hampered due to multiple rights issues and complications. For years, the 1966 “Batman: The Movie” has been the only project associated with the show available for legal purchase.

Starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin, “Batman” featured a variety of characters from DC Comics, including Commissioner Gordon, Batgirl, the Joker, Catwoman, the Riddler and Penguin; along with introducing new characters like King Tut and Egghead. Last year, Warner Bros. announced a variety of initiatives tied-in with the series, including new merchandise and the acclaimed digital-first “Batman ’66” comic written by Jeff Parker and illustrated by a variety of artists.
