It is with a heavy heart that we report that comic book legend Stan Lee has passed at the age of 95. He was the man who brought us such heroic icons as the Amazing Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, the Invincible Iron Man, and the Uncanny X-Men. He defined multiple generations of fans and dreamers.
It was reported that Lee was rushed from his Hollywood Hills early Monday morning to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he passed. Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee’s daughter, J.C. Lee confirms his death to the Associated Press.
His final few years were turbulent to say the least. Joan who was Lee’s wife of 69 years passed in 2017, he sued POW! Entertainment for $1 billion alleging fraud (which was dropped weeks later), he also sued his former business manager and filed for a restraining order against a man who was handling his affairs, and in June of 2018 it was revealed that the Los Angeles Police Department had been investigating reports of elder abuse against him.
When it’s all said and done, Lee was the man who created the marvels that we looked up to. When someone said Marvel Comics, images of Stan Lee usually came to mind. He innovated “The Marvel Method” where he would brainstorm a story with an artist, write up a synopsis, after the story panels were created, Lee would then go in a fill the word balloons and captions. He has left a legacy that will stand to the test of time and we are sadden to bid him farewell as he makes his final journey on the rainbow bridge to Asgard. Our thoughts are with his family and those close to him in this hour. Excelsior! ’nuff said…until next time.
