Heavy Metal has been an adult’s sci-fi/fantasy/horror comic magazine that has existed since 1977. It has hosted such famous talent as Moebius, H.R. Giger, Walt Simmonson and Kevin Eastman. According to Entertainment Weekly, new CEO Jeff Krelitz has hired Grant Morrison as the magazine’s new Editor-In-Chief.
Yes. That Grant Morrison.
According to the article, Morrison already has begun reaching out towards talent (including old collaborators Chris Brunham and Frazier Irving) and plans to script comic strips and prose for the magazine as well. “I want to give my attention over to making something that’s unique and provocative, a bit more scary for people and challenging,” he says.
Well, editing is a much different beast to pure writing, but it is an interesting move for Heavy Metal to make in a planned revival.
