Harley Quinn Spin-Off Movie is rumored to be in the works!

Nerdist has reported that  Margot Robbie is set to produce and star in a Harley Quinn spin-off movie following the release of DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad film. Considering that Harley Quinn has arguably become one of the most beloved character’s in the DC universe, the news of the Dr. Quinzel starring in her own feature film is spreading quickly and is being very well received. But there’s more – the movie is also rumored to star other female leads including Batgirl and The Birds of Prey!

Fun fact about Harley Quinn is that her character was not actually debuted in the comics! Instead, Harley was created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini for Batman: The Animated Series, first appearing in the 1992 episode “Joker’s Favor.” Harley didn’t  appear in the DC Universe proper until 1999 in the No Man’s Land crossover. But between the various animated projects and video games, Harley’s popularity had already been pretty well cemented by that point. She is easily Batman’s most entertaining and amusing villain and ironically, incredibly relate-able on so many levels, it makes perfect sense for DC to produce this spin off and capitalize on her popularity.

We don’t have all of the details just yet, but we will definitely continue looking into the validity of these rumors and bringing you updates as they come!
