Endgame Concept Art Shows Alternate Take on Big Moment

Concept artist Ryan Meinerding recently shared a possible twist on the climactic scene where Captain America wields the legendary hammer Mjolnir. In this take, Captain America reach for the hammer uncertain if someone who is deemed worthy.

“I thought it would be great if we could see Cap uncertain if he could lift Mjolnir or not,” he captioned the image, which shows the hero reaching for the weapon amongst the rubble.

In the final film, Cap lifts Mjolnir just out of frame, and while it might have been cool to have a “will he/won’t he” moment, it was an amazing moment in the theater for everyone as is. It does also add to the theory that Cap knew he could lift the hammer all the way back in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson recently posted a photo of herself holding the hammer, which caused Natalie Portman to ask her to go easy on it, since she needs it for Thor: Love and Thunder.
