20th Century Fox intent to follow up next summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past with a sequel called X-Men: Apocalypse indicates they have bigger plans for their Marvel properties. The Hollywood Reporter has stated that screenwriter Simon Kinberg has signed a three year deal with the studio to help them create a “Marvel style” universe for both their X-Men and Fantastic Four films.
“I have a lot of ideas on how to build those brands and do what everybody is thinking of these days: Be like Marvel,” Kinberg said. “I want to be able to build stories over multiple movies.”
Mark Millar, who was supposedly doing a similar job wasted no airtime by releasing this Tweet shortly after the announcement:
So there you have it…Marvel Universe “20.” Let’s see if the two largest owners of Marvel movie properties ever learn how to place nice with each other and do a crossover.
