I really enjoy deckbuilding games. In many ways they give me the vibe of an rpg game, as you are slowly becoming more powerful as you adventure. However, my issue with many deckbuilding games is that though I love that mechanic I do not ever feel like they are filled with a need for said character growth. However, deckbuilders that have that adventurous vibe I love: Battle for Greyport, Clank! in Space, and I have high hopes for the Few and the Cursed. Now Arkenshield promised to be a deckbuilder game where you had to build a party, and march them across the continent to reach a city across the world. Sounds pretty adventurous to me! I am in!

I have learned something about myself over the past year. I like playing games where I get to be a god, and manipulate the petty mortals to do my bidding and make sure the universe knows that I am the greatest god out there. Kleos, Theurgy were two games that I quite enjoyed over the past year or so, and both have the same broad theme. So perhaps the universe is telling me something...I just might be a god! No that doesn't sound right. I just might be a pawn of a board game god! That sounds more likely.

I am not quite sure what happened to me that I have become much more of a fan of cuteness in games as I get older. But Bugs help me, I have. I used to be all about gritty, hardcore art...but now, cartoon-y, adorable, and wacky are the styles I gravitate towards the most. So right there, I was immediately interested in Bunny Kingdom. Then when I learned that it was a game that is all about creating a plan, and performing your plan better than everyone else at the table, and there is almost no way to mess with the other player, I knew I had to have it. You see my wife LOVES games that let her create and carry out a plan, I love chaos, and she hates playing games where she can have an awesome plan and I can just crap all over it. So this seemed like a potential gift from the gaming gods.

I have always loved the idea of Kingdom Death Monster. Boss fight to Boss fight, no minions to grind, strategic combat, fun weapons and gear. However, what always took me out of it, was the theme. It was just a bit more...I will say adult, than I enjoy. That and there are 47,000 miniatures that have to be put together...no thank you.
