I always love going to Long Beach Comic Con because I get to see so many of my local friends and it’s always growing. This year I have to say how impressed I was with the growth, the con felt so much bigger then all the years before. I really liked that they opened up the floor and got both sides so the exhibit hall felt larger and more filled. The years in the past it had felt tiny and cramped.
The newest and largest edition this year was the signing area where you could go to get autographs with different stars that were the convention guests. They had Skye from Agents of Shield and also John Barrowman along with a dozen others. I liked that they had the pricing very clear and they tried to handle the lines in a great way so that people didn’t get upset at waiting. Skye did cancel on the second day due to a family emergency but they seemed to handle that well, because I didn’t hear many people complaining about it in the hall, which can sometimes really hurt a con even though they have no control.
They also had a lot of panels for guests to attend both with the convention guests and with cosplayers, prop makers and all different types of people in the industry. The panel that I attended was ran well and was interesting getting to see fellow cosplayers talk about the costumes they had created and how they had done it.
There was a lot to see this year and I am very glad that they seem to be listening to fans and expanding in a way that is beneficial to the con and the con goers alike. I had a great time, found some amazing artwork and really enjoyed myself. I even saw John Barrowman walking around the con enjoying himself.
Here is a few pictures from our guest photographer Con Woman Photography, I will have another separate gallery with more of her photos up shortly.
