Cry “Hallelujah” and kill your dinner guests in thanks. This October will see the release of a George R. R. Martin book. Oh, not the highly desired Book 6 in the Song of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter, but an encyclopedia of lore and stories from Westeros past called The World of Ice and Fire.
Now I know what some people are probably thinking: “Bwaaah! Get going on Winds of Winter already!” To which I quote Mr. Neil Gaiman: “George R. R. Martin is not your bitch”. The book will come, my sweet summer children. And, for a lore freak like myself, the kind of person who can’t get through a narrative-focused video game without collecting all the video logs, this seems like an awesome book.
The volume will contain the “accumulated knowledge, scholarly speculation, and inherited folk tales of maesters, septons, maegi and singers” detailing from the Dawn Age to the Age of Heroes, including over 170 illustrations like the one in this article.
The World of Ice and Fire will be released on October 28th.
