Holiday Videos for Geeks to Enjoy

Whether you woke up early to open presents, or slept in to enjoy the day off, today is a day to spend with friends and family. What better way to do that than to sit around the computer and watch geeky videos? So as our gift to you, here’s a selection of videos for the holiday season.

Patrick Swayze Christmas

Crow T. Robot did, in fact, achieve his goal of creating a new Christmas classic. Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans fondly remember his “Patrick Swayze Christmas” from the episode “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” (another good one to watch this time of year), and last year, Reddit gathered a choir to perform it. The result is glorious.

12 Doctors of Christmas

Doctor Who is on the 12th Doctor (not counting the War Doctor, Meta Crisis 10th Doctor, or the Valeyard), so what better time to perform a song to the tune of “12 Days of Christmas?” Each line references something associated with that day’s Doctor, and the video has nearly every Doctor to go with them, plus a few extras. The video was filmed, written, and edited by members of the group “Order of Gallifrey,” with a good assortment of Doctor Who cosplayers singing and appearing.

Glove and Boots – Oh Christmas Tree

Have you ever heard a gorilla puppet sing Christmas carols? If you haven’t been watching Glove and Boots on YouTube, then you might not have yet, though this is their third year giving gorilla a song for the holidays. This time, he performs in various styles, so enjoy.

The Avengers Sing Christmas Carols

YouTube user James Covenant has gone through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and pulled out clips word by word to have the characters perform Christmas carols. The result is as hilarious as it is catchy.

Rugrats Chanukah Episode

Okay, this one is a bit of a cheat, since it’s not fan-made. But growing up as a Jewish child, Hanukkah specials were hard to find. That’s why I loved the Rugrats special (which was also one of the few shows to ever have a Passover episode, though that’s for another time). So here’s a little nostalgia for all you 90’s kids to enjoy, thanks to YouTube user AngelicaEpisodes.

Rock Singing

I may not be able to smell what The Rock is cooking, but his singing is another story. Here he is singing some Christmas carols on Kelly & Michael, rocking out as only The Rock can.

Pokemon Christmas Bash

Pokemon fans remember that this happened. Not all of them like admitting it, but it totally happened, and it was something. This is notable for being the only time Dexter (Ash’s Pokedex) sang.

Digimon Christmas Medley/A Very Digi Christmas

Pokemon wasn’t the only -mon series to have something special for the season. Digimon 02 had a Christmas episode, which led to the cast traveling around the world to meet with more Digidestined and fight evil Digimon. The episode can be found on Netflix, so go look for it there, and in the meantime, enjoy this Christmas medley from the Japanese Digimon Tamers.

Enjoy these videos, and feel free to share your own favorites in the comments! From all of us at G33k-HQ, we hope you have a great holiday season, no matter what you celebrate, and a happy new year!
