This year Otakupalooza, UNR’s Biggest Littlest Anime Con, which is hosted by The Anime and Manga Society at UNR was held on Sunday, April 3rd. This year’s event was at JOE CROWLEY STUDENT UNION, and was free to all who wished to attend. The first 100 people through the door received an exclusive 12 x 18 print by Chris Johnson of Out of the Dust Designs. The event ran from 10am to 11pm, giving everybody plenty of time enjoy all of the activities.
My morning started with a fairly clear drive from Sacramento California to Reno Nevada; I made it to the
opening ceremonies with time to spare. The layout at Otakupalooza was well done, with all the rooms clearly marked and easy to find. They had 2 panel rooms and 2 large rooms for console gaming. All official activities were on the 4th floor of the Student Union Building, with the exception of the anime screening room located on the 3rd floor in the theater. I managed to get a picture of the Maid Cafe rehearsal, due to no photography or videoing allowed during the actual event.
All artist were local to the area, Chris Johnson of Out of the Dust Designs, Kendel Leslie of Art by Kendel, and voice actor Kiba Walker to name a few. The event producers even had food available for sale, such as hot-dogs, burgers and tako-yai. The food and Maid Cafe was available via tickets sold at the event registration table. While there I was even to get in some group shoots outside in the quad, with the cherry blossom trees made a great back drop. Over all I enjoyed the event and I look forward to next years.
All Pictures in this gallery taken by Perry “Agent P” Louie with the exception of original art print by Chris Johnson Out of the Dust Designs and Poster Image from the event page.
