ConReview: Sac Toy Expo

I recently was able to attend the Sac Toy Expo, put on by Sac-Con and Toy Worth at the old  Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento where Sac-Con used to be held. The entrance was set up in classic Sac-Con fashion with raffle tables and check-in as you enter. The outer lobby was full of fan group tables, like the 501st Legion and Cobra’s First Legion. The inner lobby had a toy vendors along with a displays of props from the original Battlestar Galactica, tables for featured guests Cam Clarke of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Robotech, Jerry Supiran who was Jamie Lawson from Small Wonder and a Super Scout on Galactica in 1980. The event had only used the main hall, with the 2 side rooms not in use. The main hall was full of toy vendors for both used and new toys alike. There were lots of collectibles to be found. They held their panels on the stage, which worked out well for guests  shopping, as they could see something was going on and head up to the stage if they chose to attend a panel. Pricing  for the event was reasonable at 6.00, with children 8 and under being free. The event had a good mix of folks out to just shop and look for the great deals and those out to cosplay as well. In the morning there was even a Batmobile outside the event center along with Japanese art cars. There was a wrestling ring with matches thru out the day setup on the lawn side of the event. I enjoyed catching up with friends and meeting new ones. The event has potential for growth into the remainder of the rooms in the building. Overall it was a nice intimate show and I look forward to this event to happen again.
