Police near Pittsburgh are investigating a fifth grade boy who had posted a “death note” at his school near this past week. The superintendent of Burrell School District, Shannon Wagner, said that the names of 5 or 6 other boys was found on a not on a wall in Stewart Elementary School. She also said,
This past week a note was found at Stewart. The note was entitled “Death Note.” After conducting the investigation, we found it is based on the anime, “Death Note.” The District in coordination with our School Resource Officer and the Lower Burrell Police Department have conducted an investigation into the matter. Appropriate actions have been taken with the students involved. As always, the Burrell School District is committed to providing a safe environment for our students and staff.
The families of the students listed in the note have all been notified by both the police and the school district. The student who posted the “Death Note” has been suspended and is waiting for the police and prosicution to decide if they are going to press charges or not
