Event: C4 Central Coast Comic Con Review

This was my first time attending Central Coast Comic Con (C4) aka the Ventura Comic Con which was held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds this past weekend (August 28-30). The event was held in two large halls, with plenty of room for growth as the convention gets bigger. The show also featured three panel rooms, an indoor lazer tag arena, bounce houses, boffer combat tournaments, and there was even a Jedi Lightsaber Academy. Food available via food trucks, with live music outside on an outdoor stage. There was also plenty of TV and films cars which included those from ‘Supernatural’, ‘Christine’, the DeLorean from ‘Back to the Future’ and the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo.

If celebrities are your thing, there was Lindsey McKeon (Supernatural), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), Gigi Edgley (Farscape), a number of former Power Rangers, and more (too many for my brain to list). There was also a number of great artist and guest such as 1138 clothing, Russell Nohelty of Wannabe Press, and The Art of Nicole Brune to name just a few. Want to meet a well known cosplayer? There was that too! Kristen Hughey, Raychul Moore, Stray Kat Cosplay, Dustbunny, Happily Ever Jenna, Alana Evans, Lonstermash, Megan Golden, Joanie Brosas, and Amberskies Cosplay. How about checking out some fan groups (and perhaps looking to join one?) like 501st Legion, Mandolorian Mercs, Rebel Legion, and Heroes United (a cosplay group out of Arizona)?

The main event Saturday night included Douggary Grant‘s Geek Fashion Show with commentary by the stylish You Know Whaaa! Editor-in-Chief Michael Pao and featured cosplayer Raychul Moore. The designers featured in the show composed of Iron Fist, Newbreed Girl, Melancholic Design, Orion’s Originals, By Deathstar Doll, Tejnin’s Creations, and 1138 Clothing. And afterwards was the costume contest.

I was also able to attend The Geek Fashion Show’s Swimsuit Photoshoot which was held after the Fashion Show on the beach and a Disney Princess photoshoot on Sunday afternoon. C4 was great for all ages, with lots of stuff for the children to do. I think the event would be a great introduction for the first time con goer. Here’s looking forward to next years event. Below is a teaser of shots from across the event. We have many more pictures from each day to follow in the next few weeks.
