Every year Long Beach holds two conventions at the Long Beach Convention Center. The expo happens usually around this time of year. I was glad to get a chance to come down and check it out this weekend. I had a really great time hanging out with some of our photographers and getting to meet up with lots of cosplayers. It’s not a bad con at all to attend and a lot of the people are really friendly. This year another conference was going on so the convention floor was moved to the opposite side of the convention center. The space made it so that for the most part you could move freely, except in Cosplay Corner where a lot of cosplayers spent their time and were having their pictures taken so the space was bottle necked a lot.
There were lots of panels, geeky films, artists to check out, comic artists to have sign your comics and cosplayers galore. There was a little bit of everything for everyone attending. The costume contest was Saturday night in the Ballroom B. After the costume contest Club Cosplay held it a free after party for con goers.
I really liked the atmosphere of the cosplayers at this convention and the fact that so many were really excited to interact and play with the kids. It really made their days and it really made mine to see the kids so excited to get to talk to their favorite characters. This show I didn’t dress up because I was feeling slightly under the weather, but I think it’s time I open up my box of fabrics and jump back in. I have been inspired again to finish up some new pieces.
If you live in the Long Beach area or near by this is definitely a nice smaller con to check out. Here are some photos from our photographers that they were able to snag. Enjoy and click on the photos to see the full photos.
