The U.S.S. Oasis is a division of The 170st Fleet, a costumed fan group that makes appearances in uniform/makeup for public events and helps to raise funds for charity. Our ship is a Star Trek fan group based out of the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada. Our goal is to spread awareness of the Star Trek franchise, meet others with the same interests, and help worthy charities in the process– and, of course, have fun while doing it.

A staple of the 1701st Fleet fan organization, the Starfleet USO is a regular event series dedicated to supporting the troops of the United States Military, while celebrating fandom at large.

In 2012, the Starfleet USO Show was created to be an annual public event, bringing together fandom to support the troops while raising money for the USO. The first event was a phenomenal success, which led to the decision in 2013 to make the Starfleet USO Show a regular event series, instead of an annual one. This will be the first such even in Reno, NV.

Fleet Vice Admiral Jenn Russell states, “As the Executive Officer of the 1701st Fleet, it brings me great joy that we can bring our signature STARFLEET USO SHOW to Reno and the Nevada Squadron. We’ve had great success with this show in other areas, and I’m looking forward to what this community can offer. Reno is such a generous town that has given recognition, assistance, and support to many different groups, and I’m confident that with the help of the 1701st and the wonderful artists and comedians that have signed on to do this event, we can offer the same to our troops!”

The 1701st Fleet’s goal with the Starfleet USO Show series is to hold events globally, in a variety of locations, which bring together the best aspects of fandom, cosplay, costuming, and entertainment, to benefit the USO and the men and women of our armed forces.
