GUEST Con Review: Geneva Steam Convention

GenevaSteam, Geneva Steam, steampunk, cosplay, fairy tales, convention, comic con, best cosplay, Wisconsin33Geneva Steam is in it’s second year and a successful convention! The 2016 Geneva Steam was held at Lake Lawn Resort on 11-13 March 2016 had it all! Panels, Steerage Ball, parties, The Dublin O’Shea Band concert, vendors, a costume contest and incredible costumes created by attendees!  Geneva Steam was filled with even more fantastic costumes and creativity than last year with their Once Upon A Time convention theme.  Steampunk fauns, winged fairies, a bevy of fairy tales characters, werewolves, sky pilots, horned beasts and traditional steampunk wear roamed the floor and danced the night away!

Never heard of steampunk? It’s a fantastic subgenre of costuming and cosplay that incorporates science fiction and fantasy with technology and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery and fashion. Wisconsin and surrounding Midwest states are well known for their steampunk communities incorporated into the main genre of cosplay. Wisconsin is definitely known for it’s Packers, snow, ice-fishing and award winning cheese. The latest cheese award Wisconsin won is it’s 2016 World Championship Cheese contest award winner, Roth Grand Cru Surchoix.  The next   big tourist attraction is going to be the 2017 Geneva Steam Convention, so make sure you plan on a trip out here to experience the fantasy, costuming culture and friendly folks from the midwest.

Geneva Steam is a delightful, annual event! This convention gets 4.5 thumbs up out of 5. High rating due to affordability, environment, quality panels, camaraderie and creative costuming. Keep it in mind for 2017 and follow Geneva Steam Convention page for next year info.
