Sands Reno Comic Con 2014

What a great event! Small but fierce is the best way to describe this event with so much potential. Brought to you by the same team responsible for Big WOW! ComicFest. It was a great event the dealer room was fun to walk around with a good amount of attendance and still allowing you to sit and talk with the vendors and talk about your favorite g33k-doms it was fantastic.

I have now doing cons for quite awhile and there are very few times I sit through an entire panel but, this con I decide to go rest my feet a bit and sit in a panel room low and behold this panel is on the anthropology of X-Men hosted by DARYL FRAZETTI. Daryl is a anthropologist who teaches at Western Nevada College in Carson City, NV. He has spent the last several years teaching courses in Star Trek, Star Wars, Middle Earth, Xenolinguistics, and Firefly. This panel was absolutely things a g33k always thinks about discussing everything about how did it make you change your thinking when you first started reading X-men. Discussing the parallels we all see to the real-world and the comics, inviting conversation and discussion. Anthropology of x-men has to be in the top 5 panels I have seen all year and I look forward to his similar panels at Wizard World Reno!

The costume contest had one of the best turn outs I’ve seen this year with various costumes and surprising amount of first time con goers. As you can see Melissa Laroue and her fellow judges had a hard time with all the great costumes that were there.
