Disney Theme Parks to Roll Out the “Star Wars”

It’s been a fair amount of time since Disney completed its acquisition of “Star Wars,” but with new movies on the horizon, it’s starting to show, with some plans to bring a few things from a galaxy far, far away into its theme parks. According to Variety, the Walt Disney Co. has plans to add new “Star Wars”- based attractions to the parks in the near future.

You might be thinking, “But isn’t there already the ‘Star Tours’ attraction?” And you wouldn’t be wrong. But that’s just one thing, as fun as it is, and these plans involve adding more. “Star Wars” has often had a presence in Disneyland and Disney World, but now that Disney owns the franchise, there’s room for even more focus on Jedi, Sith, and everything else from that universe.

There is little word on what specifically will be added, but Disney was waiting patiently for the right time to make the news official.

“When we grow ‘Star Wars’ presence, which we will do significantly, you will see better bets being made that will pay off for us than were made in the past,” company chief Bob Iger explained. And with a new movie coming out in December 2015, the time is right to stoke the flames of the “Star Wars” fandom.

We can also expect more in the way of “Star Wars” from Disney when it hosts Star Wars Celebration, along with Lucasfilm, in Anaheim on April 16-19, then again at D23 Expo the following August. This is in addition to the new show “Star Wars: Rebels,” which will be airing in the near future.

The Force is with Disney on this one, but that’s good news for fans.
