News has been steadily coming out about the “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” movie, slated for a 2017 release. First it was the Rangers, then Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, and now we have Zordon, and it’s none other than Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad” fame.
Cranston himself broke the news by tweeting: “Excited to play
#Zordon in the #PowerRangersMovie! T or F: #BlueRanger Billy Cranston was named after what actor?” And the social media feeds for the “Power Rangers” movie confirmed shortly after.
The most interesting part is how this brings his career more or less full circle. Over 20 years ago, Cranston provided the voices for several of the monsters in “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers,” including even a few times in the suit. In fact, as he referenced, the Blue Ranger’s last name was taken from his own. Now he’s gone from monster to mentor, and fans are looking forward to seeing his giant head floating in a tube.
