JJ Abrams Spills the Beans on Kylo Ren & the First Order in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

So we just found out some of new details about ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ or more specifically the character of Kylo Ren played by Adam Driver (Silence and Girls). So if you don’t want any spoilers or anything we suggest that you stop reading now. If not…let’s press on ahead!

It turns out the crossguard saber wielder is not a part of the Sith Order as many fans first thought. Which is why the character doesn’t have the Darth title before his name. Director JJ Abrams (Star Trek Into Darkness and Super 8) confirms, “Kylo Ren is not a Sith. He works under Supreme Leader Snoke, who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force.”

Abrams goes on to reveal a bit about the origins of the First Order which turns out to not quite be the Imperial remnant that many first thought they would be. “That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?”, said Abrams. “What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn’t get done?” Very interesting. ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ is set to open in theaters on December 18, 2015.
