Following the announcement of the next live event, RiffTrax is getting ready to take on “Sharknado” and broadcast it to theaters around North America. Tickets are now available for “RiffTrax Live: Sharknado,” in which the minds behind Mystery Science Theater 3000 take on the B-movie everyone loves to laugh at.
The upcoming RiffTrax Live will be held on Thursday, July 10, at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT, with a tape delayed screening broadcast to 7 PM mountain time and 8 PM pacific time. Those who miss it will be able to catch an encore screening on Tuesday, July 15.
For those unfamiliar with RiffTrax, it is the spiritual successor to Mystery Science Theater 3000, where the crew takes movies and riffs on them, adding jokes over the movie as it plays. They’ve tackled everything from “Casablanca” to “Cool As Ice,” along with many shorts and public domain films along the way, which can be purchased and downloaded from the RiffTrax website. The live events put the riffers in front of a camera and live audience while the movie plays, riffing in person, and often featuring special guests and shorts before the feature presentation.
Those in Minneapolis can try to get tickets to the live event, but as they sell out quickly, it’ll be tricky to get to. Whether seeing it in person or on the tape-delayed broadcast, though, RiffTrax Live events always bring a hilarious touch to movies old and new alike.
