The Tea Cup Shatters: NBC’s “Hannibal” Cancelled After Season 3

Well, how rude.

Despite near universal critical acclaim, NBC has opted not to pick up Hannibal for a fourth season, according to Deadline. In a statement, showrunner Bryan Fuller expressed his joy for the show and the gratefulness of NBC allowing the show to go to places that “would’ve shredded the eyeballs of lesser Standards & Practices enforces” and is looking forward to his next endeavor with them.

Speaking as a massive fan of the show, it’s quite devastating news. The writing, production work, cinematography and the acting was always top notch (especially to Mads Mikkelsen’s terrifying reconstruction of a character that had become less menacing over the years). Considering the passionate fanbase it has, it is always possible that another broadcaster (eying you, Netflix) will pick this show up again for another course.

Until then, it was a gruesome, dark, surreal, and brilliant meal.
