“Good Omens,” the classic novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, is seeing an adaptation on Amazon. Now, the cast is starting to be announced, beginning with the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley.
Michael Sheen, known for his roles in “Masters of Sex,” “Underworld,” and “Frost/Nixon,” has been cast as Aziraphale. Starring alongside him is David Tennant, best known for his roles as the 10th Doctor in “Doctor Who” and the villainous Kilgrave in “Jessica Jones.”
“Good Omens” is set slightly before the start of the biblical apocalypse, after the newborn Antichrist is accidentally misplaced. As the angel and demon meant to watch him scramble to find him (and maybe even postpone the apocalypse), the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse gather, and the key to saving the world may lie in the predictions transcribed in the book “The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch.”
The television series is co-produced by BBC Studios and Narrativia, and the Blank Corporation. It’s set to air on Amazon Prime Video, as a series of six episodes, before being broadcast on the BBC. Neil Gaiman will serve as the showrunner, as well as executive producer alongside Caroline Skinner and Chris Sussman for BBC Studios, with Rob Wilkins and Rod Brown serving as executive producers for Narrativia.
