Critical Role Breaks Kickstarter Record with $11.3 Million

The tabletop role playing game ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ is hotter than ever and one of the reasons is because of the streaming series ‘Critical Role’. Back in March the fan favorite webseries launched a kickstarter campaign to create an animated special based on their D&D adventures. Within an hour of the launch it raised more than $1 million in funds and that number kept on going up.

At the end of their VERY successful campaign, more than $11.3 million has been raised and the animated special has now become a full blown series of ten episodes called ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’. This makes it the most successful film or television project in Kickstarter‘s history with more than 88,000 fans contributing to the fundraiser,

The series will be produced by Titmouse and written by Jennifer Muro (Star Wars Forces of Destiny and Lego DC Super Hero Girls). And along with the upcoming animated series ‘Critical Role’ will also begin work on a line of campaign exclusive merchandise which will be rewards for those that backed the kickstarter. ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’ is planned to be released in the Fall of 2020.
