Katee Sackhoff to Take on the Role of Bo-Katan in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2

The second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ is really starting to shape up to be a big one. We recently learned that actor Temuera Morrison (Aquaman and Dora and the Lost City of God) maybe reprising his role of Boba Fett in the series and a number of new directors which includes Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi and Machete). It’s certainly something to look forward to this year.

Now we hear through the grapevine via /Film that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica and Riddick) will be taking on the role of Bo-Katan. This is pretty awesome because the actor also voiced the character in the animated series ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘Star Wars: Rebels’. While this bit of news is currently unconfirmed by Lucasfilm and Sackhoff’s reps, other sources state that the actor has filmed her scenes back in February before the coronavirus shut down.

For those unfamiliar with the Bo-Katan character, she first appeared in the fourth season of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ animated series. She was the Mandalorian leader of the Nite Owls and a lieutenant in the Death Watch terrorist group. The second-in-command to Pre-Vizsla the group’s leader she opposed the pacifistic ways her sister Satine the Duchess of Mandalore. Later when Darth Maul took rose to power on Mandalore and ownership of the Darksaber, Bo-Katan led the Mandalore resistance against him with the help of the Jedi and Republic Forces.

This would be a very interesting tie-in to the Mandalorian because during this period of time in the franchise the Mandalorians have found themselves shattered across the galaxy. We could also learn the series of events that led to the Empire’s Great Purge of the Mandalorians. Plus, Bo-Katan definitely has ties to the Darksaber itself which is now in the possession of Moff Gideon played by Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad and Stargirl).

In an interview with DiscussingFilm, Sackoff spoke about the possibility of her appearing in ‘The Mandalorian’;

“I mean, who wouldn’t! … There are people that are going to jump to conclusions that Bo is going to be in The Mandalorian because on paper, it does make sense. But you know, we’ll just have to wait and see and cross all my fingers and toes. You never know.”

At the moment we don’t how how the character will appear in the live action show. It could be in flashbacks in which see Gideon taking the Darksaber from her. There are a lot of possibilities. Season two of ‘The Mandalorian’ is set to premiere on Disney+ in October of 2020.
