New ‘Blackadder’ Series Maybe in the Works

It’s been over twenty five years since the last ‘Blackadder’ series from BBC. Ever since Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean and Johnny English Reborn), Tony Robinson (Walking Through History and Big Top), Hugh Laurie (The Night Manager and Veep), and Tim McInnerny (Notting Hill and Severance) made that final charge out of the trenches fans have been eager for a new series and while there has been two specials, there has been no new series.

Now according to Robinson who played Baldrick in series, has revealed that a new series maybe in the works that’s being written by Ben Elton (The Wright Way and Blessed) and Richard Curtis (The Vicar of Dibley and Bean).

“I do think a new series of Blackadder is on the cards. I have spoken to virtually all the cast about this now.” He goes on to add, “Expectations for a new series will be high because people not only remember the original, they remember who they were when it was on. It’s a big danger.” If this does pan out, it would just be amazing. What time period would you hope to see the next generation of Blackadder take place in?
