AMD’s Mantle is Poised to Change Gaming

AMD has cornered the Next-Gen console market by having chips in both systems. Now they want to make the process for making games for all platforms even easier. With their new mantle initiative they want to speed up loading times and smooth out graphics. It does this by streamlining the processes the CPU and GPU. It also allows the developers to make one program that will work across the board for all systems. And I mean all systems. AMD is planning on releasing the SDK(Software Development Kit) later this year so that anyone can use this. Even their rivals. I personally would love this. Even if it morphs into a different program. Currently it is an in house thing designed for their chips. It will be interesting to see what comes of this technology next.

The Hungry Gamer Previews Quin

Quin is an interesting game to me, because it is definitely different than anything I have on my shelf. The difference is not that is uses magnets (I have Coloma after all), or because it deals with light and shadow (I have plenty of adventure games after all...though this one kind of is literally about light and shadow, not metaphorically). The difference is that I have never played a game with more variety of rules for each individual type of playing piece you have.
