Game: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Announced for Ps4, Xbox One & PC

CinemaBlend reports:

Eidos Montreal is making a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The first details and screenshots from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided were leaked by a Russian gaming site before Square Enix could formally announce them.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, according to the leaked article spotted by NeoGAF, once again stars the cybernetically enhanced soldier Adam Jensen. Though Mankind Divided takes place after Human Revolution, it apparently won’t treat any of HR‘s endings as canon. I suppose they’ll do what Ion Storm did with the original Deus Ex: use elements of every possible ending for the story of the sequel.

Mankind Divided‘s plot is unclear but it’s said to be another global adventure, with Prague being one of Jensen’s many destinations. In Prague, he’ll meet a faction called the Augmented Rights Coalition.

Like previous Deus Ex games, Mankind lets players choose their strategy for each mission. They’ll have a range of cybernetic implants, gadgets and weapons that allow them to be as stealthy or violent as they want. Jensen’s arsenal will include old and new items. One implant mentioned in the preview allows Jensen to hack turrets and computers from a distance. Jensen’s arm-blades from Human Revolution, meanwhile, can now be fired at enemies like a crossbow.

Player’s choices throughout the missions will have consequences. For example, if Jensen attacks a group of thugs early on in the game, their allies may come after him later in the campaign.

The leaked preview mentions that Mankind Divided is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The release date is currently unknown. Perhaps Square Enix will share the launch window when they make their official announcement, though.

Square Enix previously announced that they’re planning “an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games” for Deus Ex. These core games will utilize a new Dawn Engine, based on the technology that powered Hitman: Absolution.

“Based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 engine, it represents the beginning of a new era for us,” Eidos Montreal said a few months back. “Our ambition is to build upon and improve both the visual and immersive artistry in our games, whilst also strengthening both the gameplay and storytelling experiences we strive to create.”
