After Nintendo hinted at new Pokemon news with a picture of three pokeballs, the announcement for the eighth generation of Pokemon games went live this morning. The newest games will be called “Pokemon Sword” and “Pokemon Shield,” and are the first entirely new generation of Pokemon main series games available on the Nintendo Switch.
While the most recent Pokemon games, “Let’s Go Pikachu” and “Let’s Go Eevee,” were also available on the Switch, they were still remakes of classic Pokemon games with new mechanics added. Sword and Shield versions take the players to a new region, called Galar, with new Pokemon to be found.
The new starter Pokemon were also revealed: grass-type Grookey, fire-type Scorbunny, and water-type Sobble.
