The Pokemon Company held a Pokemon Presentation stream, revealing news about upcoming games, Pokemon GO Fest, and more. Chief among the reveals is a new Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo Switch.
New Pokemon Snap
Perhaps the biggest announcement is the upcoming release of New Pokemon Snap, the long awaited sequel to the 1999 Nintendo 64 game. In Pokemon Snap, players take the role of a photographer traveling through scenic, Pokemon-filled islands to take pictures of Pokemon at play. Pokemon fans have long been awaiting a sequel, which is now finally at hand.
Hundreds of new Pokemon have been released since the original Pokemon Snap, and the trailer shows Pokemon from a wide range of regions available to photograph. The Nintendo Switch is also known for its motion controls, which could be used to add a more immersive experience to photographic Pokemon.
Pokemon Cafe Mix
In addition to New Pokemon Snap, The Pokemon Company also announced Pokemon Cafe Mix. This game is a Pokemon-themed puzzle game, where the player runs a cafe frequented by Pokemon. Other Pokemon can join them as cafe staff to provide power-ups and aid in solving the puzzles.
Pokemon Cafe Mix will be free-to-start, and will be available on both mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch.
There’s one more mobile game from The Pokemon Company, targeted at a young audience. Pokemon Smile is an app designed to encourage children to brush their teeth, through use of the phone’s camera.
While children brush, the camera adds an augmented reality Pokemon hat to their heads and tracks them brushing. The game shows their teeth getting cleaned with a Pokemon cheering them on. When they finish brushing, they can catch the Pokemon.
Pokemon Smile will be available on iOS and Android devices.
Isle of Armor
The Isle of Armor DLC is now available for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Players can download the update to access the new area.
At the same time, the Wild Area is holding Max Raid Battles with the legendary Pokemon Zeroara for the next ten days. In some cases, this will guarantee a shiny Zeroara.
Along with the new games, there were announcements about Pokemon GO.
To coincide with the release of the Isle of Armor DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield, Galarian Farfetch’d will be available in Pokemon GO. Trainers who catch them can evolve them into Sirfetch’d. Players can also purchase new clothing to match the Isle of Armor outfits.
Pokemon GO will also be making the legendary Pokemon Victini available during the Pokemon GO Fest.
