Get ready to take a trip back to the Pokemon world, as The Pokemon Company has introduced the new region: Alola, which we’ll be seeing in Pokemon Sun and Moon versions.
The Pokemon Company released a new video, showcasing the region, its new starter Pokemon, and its legendaries. You can watch it below, then we can take a look at all it has to offer.
The Alola Region’s Hawaiian influences are clear, with the sunny, tropical scenery, not to mention the massive volcano and smaller islands visible in the world map. The player character seems to be new to town, as a character named Kukui greets him with “Welcome to paradise, cousin. This is the Alola region!”
The new starters continue on the tradition of grass, water, and fire. The grass starter, Rowlet, is also part-flying right off the bat, as it is a tiny grass owl. Litten is pure fire, and has a cat-like design; the description states that it “can attack with flaming hairballs” from its oil-rich fur. Last but not least, the water type starter is Popplio, a baby seal that enjoys playing with bubbles.
Additionally, the characters we see on screen do appear to have slightly different clothes or skin tones in some of the images, indicating that trainer customization, introduced in X and Y versions but missing in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, will be making a return.
Last but not least, we’re given a glimpse of the new legendaries. Sun version features a lion Pokemon with pure white fur, decorated with gold and orange accents. The Moon version legendary appears more like a bat or dragon with crescent-shaped wings, which glow brightly as it circles them to create an attack.
Are you hyped for Pokemon Sun and Moon? The wait begins, but now we have a release date: November 18, 2016.
