New Dragonlance Trilogy Confirmed as Authors Dismiss Lawsuit

As the ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ and TTRPG hobby continues on the upward trend, long time fans have been wondering when they’ll be getting a new Dragonlance trilogy. Well, that almost didn’t happen as a while back rights holders Wizards of the Coast and Dragonlance creators Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman ended up in a bit of a legal situation.

Long story short, Hickman and Weis was working on a new trilogy of novels in the Dragonlance setting with at least one manuscript having received approval when Wizards of the Coast then terminated the project. In turn, this caused Hickman and Weis to seek damages in excess of $10 million due to breach of contract.

Lucky for us fan, it seems like the issue has been resolved and the lawsuit has been dropped. The authors’ representatives have also announced that the first book in the new Dragonlance series will be getting a publication date later in 2021.

A leak has been circulating around websites has revealed that an Amazon UK page that has gone up for “Dragonlance 1” by Weis and Hickman that will be released on July 29, 2021.

These new novels will be published from Del Rey Books, which is an imprint of Penguin Random House. The first and second books are tentatively titled ‘Dragons of Deceit’ and ‘Dragons of Fate’. Word has it that they’re also complete and will feature characters from the previously released books and also introducing a new protagonist.
