Prompted by unofficial leaks, Sony PlayStation offers a short trailer of “The Last of Us Remastered” on PlayStation 4.
The possibility of a PlayStation 4 version was first aired by PlayStation Turkey’s VP late in March, then swiftly un-announced soon after.
That was followed by a listing discovered on the Sony Entertainment Network store earlier this week, again pulled not long after it was discovered.
Instead, senior staff at developer Naughty Dog told the PlayStation Access Youtube channel a bit more about the remaster’s gestation.
“We had a lot of people saying ‘can I play this on PlayStation 4?'” said studio co-president Evan Wells.
“We anticipated that and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished on PlayStation 3. We weren’t sure if it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamoring for it we doubled down and put more effort behind it.”
“The graphic fidelity is being turned up to 11, we’ve got 1080p, we’re pushing the draw distance further, creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, better shadows.”
The Remastered edition will also include post-release prequel “The Last of Us: Left Behind” as well as all additional maps for the game’s multiplayer mode.
