After weeks of teases and speculation, Paradox has finally officially announced ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’ at the Game Developers Conference. It’s been 15 years since the first game but now we have that long awaited sequel developed by Hardsuit Labs.
The first person RPG takes place years after the events of the first Bloodlines game with the new setting of Seattle, Washington. Players will take on the role of fledgling vampires or kindred and must maneuver the snake pit politics of the vampire clans. They’ll be able to use their various vampiric powers and features “a forward-driving, fast-moving, melee-focused combat system” using first person combat.
“Created in an act of vampire insurrection, your existence ignites a blood war among the vampire factions who run Seattle. To survive, you’ll choose a clan and enter into uneasy alliances with the competing factions in a world which will react to every choice you make. Unleash your supernatural powers against your prey, but be mindful of your surroundings at all times or run the risk of breaking the Masquerade — the absolute law of secrecy that keeps Vampire society hidden from humanity.”
Brian Mitsoda who was the designer and writer of the original game is also back as the lead narrative designer who promises the game to be “a true successor guided by the people who knew what made the original so special.” At the moment the game is available for pre-order on Steam, the Epic Store, GOG, and Paradox’s store. ‘Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’ will be released in 2020.The Verge]
