Space Marines are humanity’s finest warriors. Clad in mighty Power Armour, these elite fighters are formed into Chapters, each with its own distinctive colour scheme.
Tough, powerful cards with a balance of all attack types, Space Marine decks are small but flexible.

Example Warlord:
Watch Captain Artemis prepares your cards before the battle has even begun.

The dark powers of Chaos lurk in the Warp, sending forth Daemonic and mortal forces to crush the worlds of the Imperium. Each Chaos god favours their own brand of war.
Combine Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons to create hard hitting decks.

Example Warlord:
Khan’zhar the Red grows ever more powerful as it destroys enemy cards.

As a young, dynamic race, the T’au Empire surges from the galactic East, bringing world after world into the enlightened message of the Greater Good. Join or die.
T’au Empire decks can focus on a few hard-hitting Battlesuits or bring a horde of warriors.

Example Warlord:
Commander Farsight brings Melee power to T’au Empire decks.

A brutal and savage race, Orks exist only to fight. Gathered together by the most violent and intimidating of their kind, they crush sectors beneath the tide of a Waaagh!
Ork decks favour brute force power over trickery, crushing opponents with Melee attacks.

Example Warlord:
Boss Zagstruk delivers a crushing blow with his first attack of the battle.

One of the galaxy’s oldest races, the Aeldari fell to decadence and are now a scattered, dying people. But this proud, still powerful race will not fade away without a fight.
Combining Drukhari, Craftworlds, Harlequins and Ynnari – Aeldari decks are enormously varied.

Example Warlord:
The Avatar of Khaine inspires Aeldari cards into devastating attacks.

Aeons ago, the Necrontyr were bound into immortal, metal bodies. They slept, but now reawaken, and are unimpressed to find their tomb worlds crawling with upstart mortals.
As the toughest Faction, Necron decks achieve victory by out-surviving their opponents.

Example Warlord:
Imotekh the Stormlord depletes enemy cards before battle is joined.

Millions of worlds form the Imperium, all worshiping the Emperor of Mankind. The Imperial war machine is slow, but incredibly powerful.
This faction includes Astra Militarum, Imperial Assassins, Adeptus Mechanicus and more.

Example Warlord:
Canoness Veridyan heals your cards, refusing to accept defeat.

Where other factions seek to conquer, the Tyranids only destroy and consume. The Hive Fleets emerge from the darkness outside the galaxy, stripping planets down to bare rock.
Tyranid decks are hugely adaptable, and can be built to dominate with each attack type.

Example Warlord:
Genestealer Patriarch Ghosar is a deadly Melee and Psychic combatant.

While the rest of the site revolves around the new, digital, Citadel Combat Cards game – this page is all about the classic, physical game from Games Workshop.
But first, if you’re new to the worlds of Games Workshop you might need a primer – but if you’re already a devout follower of the Emperor then skip ahead to the next section.
Games Workshop has several universes, from the high fantasy of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, to the gothic, far-future of Warhammer 40,000. Each revolves around mortals battling to achieve their goals, or simply to survive, against apocalyptic odds.
These battles are usually played across a tabletop using detailed miniatures that you assemble and paint. Citadel Combat Cards takes iconic miniatures from Warhammer 40,000, painted by Games Workshop’s elite ‘Eavy Metal hobby team, and recreates how they fight on the tabletop in a fast-paced, tactical card game.
There have been several editions of the physical Citadel Combat Cards over the last 30 years, and now they’re joined by a digital game.
