I, like many a geek before me and after, played Magic the Gathering. I played in Middle School quite a bit, and stopped playing just after the Fallen Empires card set was finishing up. So clearly the game has added a ton of stuff since then. One of these are the ability to create "tokens".

So when Kleos crossed my eye, I was intrigued by the artwork, but interested when I learned the theme. Here is a game where each of the gods is sending mortals to battle for their god's glory. Why? Whoever, is the most amazing will get to be the patron of the new city. Yeah, that's right. There is no world saving heroism here. It is a proxy war to settle the squabble of gods all screaming "I want it!". In short, my favorite thing about the Greek Gods.

Who likes cookies? Everyone likes cookies. You know who likes cookies more than anyone else on the planet? My wife. No joke. So when I checked out the rules on Harry's Place and saw that you are all competing for cookies, I figured that was a must play. It also helped that she has found that she enjoys worker placement games. This one seemed like it would be a can't miss.

It is not often that I get sent a copy of a game that I already know I really like. In fact it has happened exactly once. Sentinels is that game. I have played so much of it over the past few years, it is almost mind boggling, and the release of a very good app version has allowed me to play even more. So there will not be many surprises in this review as to the things I like, but hopefully, it will help you decide if it is for you as well.

I learned something recently. There are a lot of games based on Sherlock Holmes. Like, a crazy amount. To be honest a lot of them have never really excited me, not because I do not find the IP interesting, but rather because they are often longer games that deal with a ton of puzzling. Interesting, just not usually my jam. However, this one, promised to be playable in under an hour...and could be played solo. Count. Me. In.

One of the first games I reviewed was this small compact little dungeon crawl game filled with cool 8-bit art. I enjoyed it, and it was a super popular prize in the giveaway I did with the extra copy I was provided. So when the designer reached back out and asked me it I would review his latest offering, a 1-2 player skirmish card game I was all about it.

Engine building, grid tile placement is about the least sexy pitch I can think of for a game. It is. Yet, both of those mechanics are ones that I have grown to really enjoy over the past year or so as I have gotten deeper into doing reviews. It makes me regret that I had avoided them for so long.
